MY BLOODY VALENTINE TOUR - NEW MEXICO AND TEXAS
"Feature Interview with Izzy Osbourne"
All-Girl Group Mistress Of Reality Keeps Up With Sabbath Demands.
For Izzy Osbourne, the thought of starting a "cover band", let
alone an All-Female Black Sabbath Tribute band, was simply a laugh she
said. "I own a music school, I teach voice and one of my students
played for an all-female Cheap Trick band." Then her student said, "But
you can make some great money to fund your original material," and she
was sold. The only band that she would ever consider was Black Sabbath,
the God Fathers of heavy metal. Osbourne started recruiting other metal
heads for the band in 2003. Since then Mistress of Reality has taken
off in ways that Osbourne said she never imagined. The band has
traveled the world, and all four members have become stars as their alter egos.
"You can be free and have fun. What we try to do is have a good time,"
Osbourne said. Of course, Izzy plays Ozzy and the rest of the band
takes on the Sabbath characters as well, like G.G. Ward, the drummer;
Nancy Iommi, on guitar, and Bizzy Butler, on bass.
The group specializes in the 1969 to 1976 Sabbath look, style and songs
the stuff before the band reformed. But that was the era of the big
hits, from "Paranoid" to "Fairies Wear Boots," "Iron Man," "Sweet Leaf"
and "War Pigs." The group does not play later Sabbath material
from the Ronnie James Dio era. "Some guy would always yell ‘Heaven and
Hell’ just to be a jerk. I’d like to play one song just to show them
that we can do it, but we STAY TRUE to the original Sabbath," Osbourne said.
"Our show is smoke and strobe like the ’70s," she said, inspired from
videos of the early Sabbath performances. When the four walk on stage
as their Sabbath alter egos, first-time audiences usually aren’t sure
that the girls can handle the macho Black Sabbath music. The original
Sabbath guys were from a coal-mining town in England and were hard core
before it was prerequisite in the music industry. Sabbath guitarist
Tony Iommi, for example, lost the tips of several fingers in an
accident in a machine shop.
"That’s why I think we are probably the only girls doing it," Osbourne said. The
Sabbath music isn’t a snap to play, either. It’s heavy tone and many
complicated changes and parts take skill and dedication to replicate. A
lot of guys can’t do it. You see other Sabbath tribute bands and they are
great but Mistress Of Reality is really something different!"

EXOTIC EROTIC BALL - EL PASO, TEXAS
"Exotic Ball Fulfills Erotic Fantasies Featuring Mistress Of Reality"
For some, Valentine's Day is typically spent with that special someone in a soft, romantic atmosphere, but for others, Feb. 13 will be spent with leather, lingerie and the chance to fulfill some dark desires that are usually only fantasized about.
On Feb.13, KLAQ will present their second annual Exotic Erotic Ball at Club 101, and because adult themes will be presented, only those over the age of 21 will be able to attend. For one night only, everyone is encouraged to live out their deepest fantasies and have a good time by dressing any way they desire. This event, which received a considerable amount of positive feedback last year, allows attendees to realize bedroom fantasies in a tasteful manner with others. "It was very popular last year and that was a big surprise for us," said Buzz Adams, KLAQ Morning Show host. Last year about 800 people attended the ball, and with Club 101's new location, a bigger turnout is expected this year. Although not everyone is required to dress up, it is promoted. Last year people dressed up in everything from leather to lace to almost nothing at all. "We had a wife with her husband on a leash and a woman dressed in a school girl outfit," said Courtney Nelson, KLAQ program director. "Tattoos were a big thing last year, especially body art that covered up certain places." Costumes are a large part of the event and help to create anonymity. People can wear masks or makeup to remain anonymous, live out their desires and have fun, Nelson said.
Compared to last year's event, there will be some big changes that are set to please the crowd even more and add to the overall exotic environment. The World's Only
All -Female Black Sabbath Tribute Band Mistress Of Reality will be performing twice during the evening. The night before the ball, they will be playing in Albuquerque and will make the overnight trip to El Paso.
There will be various contests and cash prizes at the Exotic Erotic Ball to keep everyone entertained. Contests such as "Sexiest Kiss for Cash" and Mr. and Mrs. Exotic Erotic will make a comeback this year along with some more adult-oriented games. "The 'Porno Price is Right' is where we have adult items and people have to guess the right price to win them," Nelson said. Despite the fact that sexually explicit themes are prominent throughout the evening, it's not to the extent that would be labeled obscene.
"Everyone had a good time and it wasn't something that would offend anyone or would turn anyone off by it," said Mondo "The Monster" Medina from the KLAQ Morning Show. "It was like going to a costume party."

REVIEW OF HALLOWEEN WEEKEND SHOW AT THE GRAIL, ID 10-27-07
"Mistress of Reality...VA-voom!!!"
GREAT SHOW the other night, "the girls" are on top of their game! Extremely tight, true to the "Sabbath" sound and exciting to be a part of. You know the tunes, but you've never SEEN Sabbath until you've seen MISTRESS OF REALITY. Trust me!!!
A solid two hours of thrust and grind didn't leave a dry eye in the house (partly because Izzy kept throwing water and stuff on us) or a moment to catch our breath. The stage came alive and the place didn't stop shaking until the very last moments when they said "thank you for coming" and only then did we have a chance to realize what these girls had done.
They brought justice served up on steaming fresh platter of Vintage Sabbath Bitchin' Sabbath performed with vengeance and passion. And a side order of Attitude! I don't know where they get that energy from but it's hard to choose who to watch with such a fearsome four of un-ending musical delights. And, I can take them home to Mommie...

Review in THE TUCSON WEEKLY - PLUSH SHOW 4-8-2005
"Black Sabbath with sex appeal!"
Unsure what to think of Mistress at first,
by the end of the night, the crowd worshipped the ground they walked on.
Note to Sharon Osbourne: The next time
a Nativity in Black tribute album is produced, Mistress of Reality is
the one group capable of honoring Black Sabbath.
Mistress of Reality played a near-two-hour
performance and would have had anyone thinking Sabbath were actually playing
if they were not watching the stage. For anyone watching the ladies pay
homage to the founders of heavy metal, it may have seemed like the band
members were mimicking their parts while Sabbath discs were played over
the sound system.
Strobe lights and smoke covered the stage
before Mistress ripped into its opener, "Black Sabbath." The
power of the group's sound floored and perplexed the crowd. Betsey Butler's
bass lines sent vibrations into the crowd, a la Geezer Butler. Frontwoman
Izzy Osbourne slowly crept onstage, perfectly mimicking Ozzy's every gesture
and expression. Switching positions in the band to guitar, Nicky Iommi
was beyond impressive in perfectly replicating Tony's God like guitar
sound.
During "Hand of Doom," Izzy
teased and flirted with the gawking males in the front. Drunk enough to
think they were at a Sabbath show, members of the crowd started to cell
phone bootleg the show after Mistress started "Into the Void."
For two songs, Izzy instructed the crowd that she needed volunteers to
help the group out. One happy dude in a Cure shirt was plucked out of
the crowd to yell the opening line of "Iron Man." The crowd
immediately broke out into a mosh pit for the remainder of the night--something
that does not happen at Sabbath shows. A group of people were pulled onstage
to perform the coughing intro to "Sweet Leaf." Sirens blared
and the crowd clapped, sang and headbanged during Mistress' closer, "War
Pigs!"

Cover Story/Interview in The El Paso Times, TX
"Sabbath sense...Female band pays tribute."
The women in Mistress of Reality never want to be considered
just a cover band -- they are much more than that. The four women from
Los Angeles want to pay homage to the men in Black Sabbath, the Godfathers
of Heavy Metal. For them, it is a way of life. Lead singer Izzy Osbourne
said in a phone interview from her home, "We really pay tribute to
Black Sabbath, from the instruments to look and truly heavy sound. We
are not just out there jamming on Black Sabbath. It is all about the passion
and love. It's one of my favorite things to do and we make sure everyone
has a great time."
They rock, plus they're hot, too. It's not just chicks
singing Sabbath songs, they actually get into it. It's like Ozzy channels
through her. It is freaky. It has led to gigs all over the United States.
"It is all about persistence and keeping at it. We know it's not
our music. We are doing it out of a respect and love for Black Sabbath.
Sabbath has that brutal combination of darkness and raw power." In
the early years, Ozzy was notorious for his onstage antics, such as mooning
the audience. And it's something that Izzy does not rule out. "If
it's a good crowd and they inspire me to do so, of course I'll drop my
pants for them!"
Sabbath fans can expect a trip back in time. "We
try to take them back to the '70s and hope to inspire those people doing
original music to see that a lot of the riffs they are playing were probably
once played by Black Sabbath." Izzy said.

Feature Article/Interview in Tucson Citizen, AZ
"Stoked on Red Bull, Izzy tries to channel
Ozzy!"
It took playing a man for Paulette Kasal to command respect
on stage. Not just any man - she picked about the best she could, next
to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln - but still, give a girl a break. Ah, the
benefits of being a boy, or at least a version of one. On top of that
irony is the respect that's elusive to so many tribute bands, those slagged
as mere covers groups, pale imitators.
"As a woman in heavy rock music, I was never accepted
because I was very aggressive on stage," Kasal says. That has changed.
Because when night falls, she transforms into Izzy Osbourne in an all-female
Black Sabbath tribute. And as the master of rock, she can freely break
mic stands, douse the audience with water, curse and for the first time
in her life moon the audience. "I'm having the most fun I've ever
had in my life. We've been able to do more with this band than some signed
bands," she says. "We've been able to tour the country and make
some money. ... I love having a pocket full of stories. Ha, ha."
With Mistress of Reality, a play on the "Master of
Reality" album, you don't get the Dio years....The Mistress - Izzy
Osbourne, Nicky Iommi, Betsey Butler and Jill Ward - instead stick with
the early '70s recordings. So when the strobe hits the flowy costumes,
maybe some audience members, those with a huge chunk of nostalgia in their
brains and perhaps a bit of beer in the belly, get to see Ozzy and Sabbath
if just for a moment.

"Mistress of Reality Pay Homage To Metal Godfathers
Black Sabbath"
Mistress of Reality is an all-female Black
Sabbath tribute who are dedicated to spreading the music and showmanship
of the world's first true heavy metal band. These Los Angeles based beauties
take this tribute band to a higher form of worship. Izzy Osbourne, during
a recent interview with The Marquee. "Of course, as musicians Sabbath
are the godfathers of heavy music and are a huge influence on us, so it
seemed like the thing to do." Many tribute bands are simply diversions
for musicians who are also members of other non-tribute bands. For the
women in Mistress of Reality, however, paying homage to the men in Sabbath
has become more than just another creative outlet, but rather a full-time
job. "None of us have ever been in a tribute band, when we started
we all had other projects going," said Izzy. "This band now
takes up so much of our time."
Giving up steady income is a gamble every serious musician must eventually
face. Luckily for Mistress of Reality, it seems rolling the dice has paid
off. "The band was formed in April of the year before last, so less
than two years and we've already been on so many tours, it's just amazing!"
said Izzy. The band strives to perform faithful interpretations of their
hero's music. "I like to tell people we are not a cover band, we
tribute Black Sabbath," said Izzy. "We have the same gear, the
same stage setup, we even have the strobe effect the band used to use
back in the '70s. I think the only difference is because we're female
the costumes are a little different." Formed in 1969 by four young
lads from across the pond, Black Sabbath quickly created a type of music
that made the youth, both in England and around the world, shake their
bones.
"Black Sabbath was originally a blues band ...Their music is about
peace and making the world better."

Mistress of Reality gives early Sabbath an "Electric Funeral"
Pouring out a flood of "We love you all!"
and "God bless you!" is the kind of manic confusion that made
Ozzy so bewildering first time around, and his feminine protégé, embraces
the role with unholy relish! Nowhere is the mania more obvious than in
the audience reactions produced by Izzy Osbourne's painstaking theatrical
preparation. Izzy with make-up drenched, tongue out, claws reaching toward
the audience, is obviously elated at being the mistress giving reality
to anyone and everyone's depraved all Sabbath fantasies! "We are
a tribute, playing the only band that I could ever dream of doing a tribute
for, and we take it farther than a cover band could ever dream. I'm talking
plenty of smoke, original gear and all the theatrics of a great early
Sabbath show. That's no "cover."

San Diego 12/6/03
"I haven't had a taste of Mistress of Reality since Sept. 26th when
I saw them in Salt Lake City, Utah. They entered the stage starting out
with the song "Black Sabbath." Bonny, Sheezer and Jill started
playing, then Izzy entered with such excitement making it feel so real.
They played classic Sabbath like "Ironman" and "War Pigs."
Concert patrons were invited up on stage to sing "I am Ironman!"
and to do the coughing on "Sweetleaf." The dark ladies also
played Sabbath tunes you don't hear on the radio like "Electric Funeral"
and "Into the Void." They filled the void that Ozzy left, not
playing in Utah since 1996. I then set out to fill my hunger on Dec. 6th.
While on my quest I found out that it was an all-female tribute night
at Canes. Mistress of Reality served up the sounds of Black Sabbath as
only they can. Their sound is so close that you could close your eyes
and it would be like you were at a Sabbath concert. However, you wouldn't
want to close your eyes cause their so hot! You've got to check out these

"Normally the Zebra Lounge is closed on Sunday nights but due to
unexpected circumstances that popped up, Bret Cline pulled it off for
Rocky Mountain Hardcore for an awesome night of music. Headlining Sunday
evening is 6-month-old band, Mistress Of Reality on the Evil Women Tour
are Sabbath worshiping, hard-hitting ladies from LA that cranked out a
Sabbath tribute performance that as one fan commented, gives Urth (an
awesome local Sabbath tribute band) a run for their money. Paulette Kasal
(a.k.a. Izzy Osbourne, lead vocals), Bonnie Buitrago (a.k.a. Bonny Iommi,
lead guitar), Nicole Ridge (a.k.a. Sheezer Butler, bass), and Simona Bressi
(a.k.a. Jill Ward, drums) stepped on stage sporting fog machines, strobes,
and siren lights giving a performance that mirrored the unmistakable look,
feel, and sound of the early years of Black Sabbath. These self-described
dark goddesses of the tribute scene pumped up the crowd in asking for
volunteers to sing and played a very tight, wide range of Sabbath tunes.
Considering the last minute booking and taking place on a Sunday night
the crowd was larger than I expected. These girls were an instant success
with the crowd as many favorites were performed. The crowd went nuts all
night yelling, screaming and applauding. One fan said that he has always
loved Ozzy's music and it was cool to see a bunch of ladies doing it.

Tribute paid to Izzy - By Scott Prinzing of The Billings Outpost
"When they finally hit the stage, Mistress
of Reality did a pretty good job of reproducing songs from those early
Sabbath albums. The fog started creeping out on the stage as the distant
church bell tolled the intro to "Black Sabbath" an appropriate
opener, since it was the first track on Black Sabbath's 1970 debut. They
went right in to "Children of the Grave" from 1971's "Master
of Reality," then back to the debut for "Bassically/N.I.B."
I was especially impressed after learning that
they have been together for only six months. This three-week tour was
not only the first for the band, it's the first time any of them had been
on the road. It's also the first time any of the ladies have been in a
band with other women, and none of them had ever played in a tribute band
before. I started making my way for the door. I hated to leave, but it
was after 11 pm on a weeknight. As I exited onto Broadway, I could hear
the pulsating dirge of "Electric Funeral" reverberating off
the walls. CLASSIC! To find out more about these
dark ladies, visit www.mistressofreality.com."

Review of the show at Zephyr
Club, Salt Lake City UT 9/26/03
"Great show! I particularly liked the effects (the strobe really
set the '70s hard rock show mood, and the snow machine was a nice touch
as well). They did strictly Ozzy Sabbath, and Izzy's expressions were
very reminiscent of the crazyman himself (especially when the strobe was
on)!!! I had forgotten just how bass driven a lot of the earlier Sabbath
is, and Sheezer Butler's bass lines were indeed heavy and very high energy
(good work girl!). Bonnie Iommi's guitar work was also very good, and
her onstage presence did remind me of Tony's to an extent (from what I
remember from the few video clips I've seen). Jill Ward's drumming was
solid and really helped complete the mood. Overall, the sound was excellent!
Afterwords, the gals spent time signing autographs and visiting with the
crowd, and were all smiles!!! All in all, a great show well worth the
price of admission for you early Sabbath fans!!!"

Out & About - "Princesses of darkness: Often lost among the mumbling
and bumbling on "The Osbournes" is the reason Ozzy became famous in the
first place: Black Sabbath kicked butt! Hence, Mistress of Reality, the
first all-female Black Sabbath tribute band!"

The all-female tribute bandwagon rolls on, this time with Los Angeles
Black Sabbath worshippers Mistress Of Reality, riffing the best of the
Ozzy era (no Ronnie James Dio - and don't even mention Ian Gillan) with
with only guitars swingin' between their legs. As vocalist Izzy Osbourne
(Paulette Kasal) recently told men's magazine FHM, "Ozzy is always
clapping on stage; breasts would just be something else for him to clap
together."

"RAWK - A cover band can only be as good as the band they're covering,
right? So I have high hopes for Mistress Of Reality, an all-girl band who
covers one of the best metal bands ever, Black Sabbath. Holy EFF!

Review of the show at The Neurolux,
Boise ID 9/25/03
"Rants & Raves - Mistress raaaaaaaawked!"
"Think, the world's first heavy metal band meets super-rock chicks
Heart with a Beelzebub chaser. That's what was seen Sept. 25 at the Neurolux:
Mistress of Reality. From the hypnotic "Black Sabbath" to the anthemic
"War Pigs," the only all-female tribute to Black Sabbath tore through
a wicked set with cradled ferocity that proved that these were no "girly-men."
Izzy Osbourne, Bonny Iommi, Sheezer Butler, and Jill Ward wielded their
instruments in a manner the Neurolux has not seen before. It would have
been nice to see some Dio-era Sabbath (they stuck to original Ozzy-only
tunes), but, still, after a few beers to blur the mammaries, the Carter-
administration conceived crowd was thrown back to the best 1974 had to
offer: vintage Sabbath!"
